Blackpool Sands

It’s hard to beat a fun day out for the whole family at this beautiful Blue Flag Award-winning beach just 3 miles from Dartmouth. Backed by evergreens and scented pines, there’s a feeling of being in the Mediterranean here. Throughout the season there’s a bathing raft, sand pits for building sandcastles, and water sports equipment for hire. There’s even a summer music festival and outdoor cinema. Venus Cafe serves organic and local food all day long, so you can start the day with breakfast or end it with a sunset dinner.

South Milton Sands

Set in a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty, this stunning beach offers a wonderful combination of clean waters and protected natural habitats. Seals and dolphins are a common sight here and it’s a great place to spot migrating birds. When the tide goes out the rock pools are brimming with life from crabs to starfish. And The Beachhouse cafe is a great place to enjoy the stunning views whilst enjoying a tasty bite to eat.

Slapton Sands

This stunning shingle beach stretches for almost three miles from Strete Gate to the village of Torcross. The beach is backed by a large freshwater lake, Slapton Ley, which is home to a variety of rare flora and fauna. It’s a popular place to fish for mackerel, bass, plaice and more thanks to the steep shelf that makes it easy to reach deep water. There’s a good choice of excellent eateries nearby from The Tower Inn to Stokeley Cafe & Farm Shop.

Beesands

Backed by fields and gently rolling hills, Beesands Beach offers a welcoming invitation to step back in time. The small fishing village remains unspoilt with crab and lobster playing an important part in the local economy. Fishing boats unload the catch of the day on the village green so you can buy fish to barbecue on the beach. Or enjoy delicious local seafood dishes at Britannia @ The Beach or delightful thatched pub, The Start Bay Inn.
